“Timber!” - This well known cry resonates with us today, just as it did in the heyday of logging. Logging was the livelihood of the small communities surrounding the Quinault Lake area. Our logging room depicts a portion of the industry that has made the Olympic Peninsula famous. In one section is an exhibit of tapered shakes, complete with shakes, actual tools and photographs showing the steps in making them. Cross cut saws, known as misery whips, springboards, and vintage photos of loggers are also presented.
